Hello! We are finally back and streaming again from our brand new studio. Firstly, many thanks to all those involved in the rebuild — especially George, current Assistant Station Manager, who has put in many, many hours in the West Basement getting everything ready for us to start broadcasting again. We’re looking forward to another great year for ICRadio, with more Freshers than ever signing up to host their own shows our schedule is looking brilliant. There is a wonderful mix of new and old music, speech programming and general chat. Make sure to listen in whenever you get the chance — even if there isn’t a show on, Sustain will be playing out a great selection of chart music and the occasional less well-known gems. Thanks to last year’s music team for giving Sustain the major overhaul it desperately needed. Finally, congratulations to Student Radio Association award winner Anand Jagatia. Anand hosted and produced ‘Sound in Silence’ (available here on SoundCloud https://soundcloud.com/anand-jagatia/sound-in-silence), which was broadcast on ICRadio last year. The show which explored tinnitus through clever techniques involving music and sound, won the Best Speech Programming award at this year’s SRAs show. Previous SRA winners from ICRadio have gone on to work in the radio industry, like Radio 1’s Greg James’ show. So get your membership, get trained and host a show — who knows, maybe you’ll be an award winner next year!

It's that time of year again. Here at IC Radio we're preparing to welcome the next cohort of Imperial students. We've got a packed schedule of events planned including the first live music at Freshers’ for some years. At the mingles, we introduce 'James and the Rabbit Hole' and 'Blitz Kids'. Meanwhile we’re co-hosting the 'Alternative Mingle', with live music from student bands, on Saturday and Sunday from 7 o'clock. Later, at the Freshers' Ball we introduce Sid Batham and Bo Keeney before B.Traits finishes the night. Not only that, we're broadcasting live from Freshers' Fair: come and say hi and try out live radio yourself. To celebrate the end and Freshers’ and the beginning of a new term, we're hosting the annual 'Beer + Biscuits' event on the 7th October in the Physics Common Room from 7 o'clock. Come and say hi and enjoy some of our (free) nibbles and drinks. It's going to be an fantastic year, looking forwards to seeing you there!

Wow! What a term we've had at IC Radio! Two of our members met Brian May and Rodger Taylor from Queen and interviewed them as part of the PRS For Music Heritage Plaque award ceremony celebrating the location of Queen's first gig, right here at Imperial. We've also had live sessions on Mondays (IC LIVE SESSIONS), and another live set from Hacker Farm (on Songs About Nothing), as well as providing live coverage of the Big Elections 2013 and the VARSITY rugby match. There will be a few shows over the Easter break but feel free to listen in whenever you want, we've added new songs to our station playlist, including songs from Baauer, Alex Clare and Metric, as well as lesser known artists such as Your Laundry, The Sherpas, Apples & Eve and August and After. Stay tuned in the coming months and listen to more new music and exciting broadcasts!

Hello radio listeners! Wow, it seems we haven't updated this blog in a while... very naughty of us! As you might have noticed, after the end of term we've had a reduction in shows as our tireless presenters have returned home to recover from a term of hard learning! However, fear not! Out sustain service is here to provide you with some top quality tunez while you relax (or revise)! And there are still some occaisional shows from those hardcore presenters who just can't stay away, so there's lots to keep you entertained during the holiday period! Happy radio days!

My first official blog post on the IC Radio website! For those of you who don't yet know me, I'm Aislinn, station manager here at IC Radio. This is my second year as president, and my third year taking part in student radio. You'd think I'd be bored of it by now, but student radio is anything but boring! Being a member of the Imperial Radio society has the following perks (oh yes, there's a list): a weekly slot on our broadcasting schedule, opportunities to get involved in live band recordings, free gigs and interviews with the industry's hottest rising talents, an endless library of music (vinyl, CD, digital, even midi-discs!) to peruse, FREE membership to national organisations like the Student Radio Association and Radio Academy, entry to events such as the Student Radio Awards, The National Student Radio Conference, and the infamous IC Radio Beer&Biscuits....... Need I say more? So come join us and get involved! You don't have to be an Imperial student to join our ranks, just head over to the Imperial College Union website and check out details about membership. Hope to see you soon! Love from your friendly neighbourhood station manager, Aislinn x
